The Carré International offers a range of summer school sessions open to an international audience wishing to learn or improve their knowledge of French, teaching methods, or Medieval Latin. Once again this year, the Carré international offers an immersive experience combining language and cultural learning with visits to Normandy’s heritage sites.
An accessible and flexible program
The Carré International’s summer schools are aimed at a wide audience: students, professionals, or anyone wishing to improve their language skills. No specific qualifications are required for enrolment, making the course accessible to everyone aged 18 and over.
The program is available in several flexible formats: one, two, or four weeks, allowing everyone to tailor their stay to their availability and objectives.
The program is structured around two main sessions:
- Session 1 (15 to 26 June 2026): an intensive French language course focusing on comprehension, speaking, and writing.
- Session 2 (29 June to 10 July 2026): a combination of language lessons and cultural modules, with an emphasis on communication and exploring heritage.
In addition, specialized sessions are offered from 29 June to 3 July 2026, notably in the teaching* of French as a foreign language (FLE) or Medieval Latin.
*Level B1 is required only for courses in the teaching of French as a foreign language (FLE).

Total immersion in the French language
One of the main strengths of these summer schools lies in their immersive approach. Participants are immersed in a French-speaking environment and benefit from educational support designed to develop all language skills: comprehension, expression, interaction, and mastery of grammatical structures.
A rich cultural experience
Beyond the lessons, the summer schools offer a genuine immersion in French and Norman culture. Excursions are organized to explore the region’s iconic sites, such as Mont-Saint-Michel, the D-Day beaches, Honfleur, and Étretat.
These outings allow participants to put their language skills into practice in real-life situations while deepening their knowledge of French history and heritage.

Accommodation and daily life
To enhance the immersive experience, a range of accommodation options is available. Participants can choose to stay with a host family, an option that encourages cultural exchange and the daily use of French.
Life on campus, located in the heart of Caen, also offers easy access to university facilities as well as the city’s many restaurants and social venues.
The Carré International 2026 summer schools offer a unique opportunity to enjoy an immersive experience in France. Combining high-quality language training with cultural discovery, they provide the ideal setting to progress in your chosen specialism – French, teaching methodology, or Medieval Latin – while discovering the richness of Normandy.
