On 3 March, the AcrossEU alliance reached a milestone by submitting a new project proposal to the European Commission. Led by the University of Caen Normandy and its eight European partners, this initiative reflects a clear ambition: to take the next step and firmly establish the alliance within the European higher education landscape.
A strong, impact-driven alliance
Since 2022, AcrossEU has established itself as an effective and committed European partnership. Structuring projects, shared governance, and recognition with three Seals of Excellence: the results speak for themselves.
But the ambition extends beyond this.
AcrossEU now brings together nine universities across eight countries, united by a shared vision: to make universities key players in the economic, social, and environmental transformations of their regions. At the intersection of local challenges and European priorities, the alliance works to train, innovate, and retain talent where it is most needed.
Two priorities to meet today’s challenges
At the heart of this new application are two major strategic priorities:
- Digital technology and artificial intelligence: anticipating change, training for the skills of the future, and stimulating innovation.
- Sustainable development: supporting the green transition and developing concrete solutions for regions.
These priorities translate into targeted and operational actions: joint training programs, applied research projects, strengthened cooperation with socio-economic stakeholders, and initiatives closely aligned with local needs.
A long-term commitment
This application is part of an ambitious and sustainable vision. Member institutions have renewed their consortium agreement for the 2026–2036 period, affirming their commitment to further strengthening their cooperation.
With this new phase, AcrossEU reaffirms its objective: to build a leading European alliance dedicated to education, innovation, and regional development.
