UNICAEN has a network of 9 university libraries and 9 specialised faculty libraries (teaching units, schools, and institutes). They are spread between the campuses of Caen, Alençon and Cherbourg and they provide a friendly and supportive learning environment.
Find your library
Check out the Libraries website to find the locations and schedules.
Please make sure you have your student card with you. You will need it to check out, renew, order, and request items. You can renew loans if not wanted by another person, either through your reader account, or by contacting library staff directly at the circulation desk or by email.
The “Navette+” service enables you to take out or return documents in the 11 libraries of our network.
Thanks to the interlibrary loan service, you can have access to articles or request a loan or consult books from either French or foreign libraries on site. This service is available to registered readers (free for students and staff, paid service for external users).
Three of the libraries remain open on evenings: the Bibliothèque Madeleine-Brès (Health Department), located on campus 5, the Bibliothèque Pierre-Sineux (Law-Literature Departments), located on campus 1, and the Bibliothèque Rosalind-Franklin (Sciences-Sports Departments), located on campus 2. You can access these libraries from Monday to Friday, from 7PM to 11PM, upon presentation of the student card (called Leocarte). On Saturdays, from 10AM to 7PM, you can access the Bibliothèque Rosalind-Franklin located campus 2 and on Sundays, from 1PM to 7PM, you can access the Bibliothèque Madeleine-Brès, located on campus 5.
The library portal provides unique access to all university library resources, in both printed or digital forms: books, articles, journals. Once you have logged in, you can access the online resources. The digital resources provided by the libraries (online journals, databases, e-books, etc.) are also accessible if you are off campus: in this case, you must log in via your digital account.
Librarians can help you with your documentary research on site or through the Remote Q&A Answer Service, by chat or by email.
By downloading the free application Affluences or by consulting the website, you can check the occupancy rate of the Bibliothèques Madeleine-Brès (Health Department), Bibliothèque Pierre-Sineux (LawLiterature Departments) and Bibliothèque Rosalind-Franklin (Science-Sports Departments) in real time. You can also book a group study room there.
It is possible to make an appointment with a specialised librarian for more in-depth documentary advice.
In addition to the Espace orientation insertion (EOI) located on campus 1, two university libraries (BU Pierre-Sineux and BU Rosalind-Franklin) provide a documentary collection dedicated to vocational guidance and integration.
