On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, the University of Caen Normandy signed a partnership convention with the Public Prosecutor’s department of the legal tribunal of Caen, the Prefecture of Calvados, the Interdepartmental Directorate of the National Police, and the association for victim assistance ACJM. This partnerhip aims at better reporting mechanisms for offences committed within the university framework and ensuring better support for victims.
This new step in the fight against offences at the university is part of the ongoing efforts to fight against gender-based and sexual violence on our campuses. This convention is an opportunity to take broader action and amplify the fight against all forms of violence and discrimination. The aim is to facilitate reporting, support, and judicial procedures against situations of sexism, harassment, or assault that students and staff of the University of Caen Normandy may experience. The convention and resulting actions are good examples of cooperation between public services, with associative support involved, to ensure better access for users of the police and justice system.
The actors involved are glad of this dynamic, as it will result in better care management, such as identifying needs in preventive action.
The convention was signed in the presence of:
- Guillaume Mauger, Interdepartmental Director of the French Police
- Stéphane Bredin, Calvados prefect
- Lamri Adoui, President of the University of Caen Normandy
- Joël Garrigue, Public Prosecutor
- Jean-Patrick Clément, President of the victim support association ACJM (Aide aux victimes, citoyenneté, justice et médiation)
