A graduate school brings together master’s and doctoral programmes backed by top-level research laboratories specialising in a particular field. It also involves various higher education and research establishments, such as universities and engineering schools.
The French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation wishes to “promote the internationally recognised graduate school model in France, ensuring that projects fully involve research organisations, have a strong international dimension and, wherever possible, maintain close links with economic players.”
The University of Caen Normandie is therefore involved in the following 4 graduate schools:
XL-Chem is a university research school specialising in molecular chemistry.
XL-Chem offers innovative “à la carte” Master’s and Doctorate degree courses, combining excellent research training with original certified training in entrepreneurship, project management and management, in line with the candidate’s professional project. More specifically, XL-Chem will propose double degrees in partnerships with foreign universities, courses and lectures given in English by guest researchers, in-depth training through research thanks to the students’ immersion in laboratories and strengthened partnerships with private companies.
XL-Chem relies on solid, long-standing partnerships with foreign universities, particularly in the UK.
The Graduate School MINMACS offers excellent training in mathematics and computer science for Master’s degree students.
This selective programme recruits students of all nationalities for Master’s degrees – first or second year. Selected students will enrol in a Master’s programme at one of Normandy’s three universities (Caen, Rouen, Le Havre) or two engineering schools (ENSICAEN, INSA Rouen), and follow one of our Master’s programmes with one of two majors: “Mathematical Computing” or “Data Science”. These courses provide high-level training for applications in healthcare, mobility and renewable energies.
MINMACS offers high-level training with a personalised tutoring system, immersion in research laboratories, and an existing network of local, national and international partners for mobility, internships and projects.
The MINMACS Graduate School has been awarded the Label of Excellence by the Normandy Region and the European Commission.
The Graduate School for Materials & Energy Sciences brings together the best Master’s students in the field of Materials and Energy from the universities of Caen, Le Havre and Rouen and the ENSICAEN and INSA Rouen engineering schools.
The Graduate School for Materials & Energy Sciences (GS-MES) is a project of excellence funded by the Normandy Region.
At the University of Caen Normandie, the GS-MES is attached to the Material Sciences Master’s programme, with courses complementing the Master’s programme.
The aim is to support students in the realisation of their scientific and professional projects and offer them programmes tailored to their needs, thanks to a dedicated tutor.
Students at the Graduate School for Materials & Energy Sciences (GS-MES) will be immersed in partner laboratories throughout the year, thanks to a strengthened collaboration with LabEx EMC3. GS-MES students will also be eligible for an Excellence Scholarship.
The N2P Graduate School offers top-level training in nuclear physics in partnership with the ERASMUS MUNDUS Master’s Degree in Nuclear Physics.
The Graduate School of Nuclear Physics (N2P) is a project of excellence funded by the Normandy Region.
At the University of Caen Normandie, the Graduate School is attached to the Nuclei, Atoms and Collisions track of the Physics Master’s programme.
The aim of the Graduate School is to support students in the realisation of their scientific and professional projects in the various specialties of the field (theoretical physics, experimental physics or industrial applications). Each student is supervised by a dedicated tutor, and pursues a personal research project throughout the year at partner laboratories: GANIL, LPCC and CIMAP, in parallel with the Master’s courses.
The N2P Graduate School is a partner of the ERASMUS MUNDUS Joint Master’s Degree in Nuclear Physics, NucPhys.
GS-N2P students will benefit from the extra-curricular courses offered by the International Master’s programme and its extensive network of international mobility opportunities before and after the Master’s degree. Over 85% of our graduates obtained a PhD contract before completing their Master’s degree! GS-N2P students are eligible for an Excellence Scholarship, based on the criteria of excellence.
Applications for the 2022-2023 academic year are now open: 5 2nd year Master’s and 5 1rst year Master’s students will be selected!
