The aim of this symposium is to study the scientific, political and social debates currently taking place in Latin America between local and national memory policies. 

It will look at the various initiatives and projects put in place since the end of the dictatorial regimes of the 1970s-1980s and 1990s, to see whether these policies have worked in synergy, competition or mirror image. Pioneering countries in the implementation of measures linked to their recent past, Latin American countries are also young democracies attempting to manage “Recent Past” and “Present” very often at the same time. 

This symposium takes place at Caen University and Caen Memorial.
