Libraries

UNICAEN has a network of 7 university libraries and 11 specialised faculty libraries (teaching units, schools, and institutes). They are spread between the campuses of Caen, Alençon and Cherbourg and they provide a friendly and supportive learning environment.

Find your librarie

Check out the Libraries website to find the locations and schedules.

Please make sure you have your student card with you. You will need it to check out, renew, order, and request items. The “Navette” service enables you to take out or return documents in the 11 libraries of our network.

Thanks to the interlibrary loan service, you can have access to articles or request a loan or consult books from either French or foreign libraries on site. This service is available to registered readers (free for students and staff, paid service for external users).

Two of the libraries remain open on evenings: the Bibliothèque M. Brès (Health Department), located on campus 5, and the Bibliothèque P. Sineux (Law-Literature Departments), located on campus 1. You can access these libraries from Monday to Friday, from 7PM to 11PM, upon presentation of the student card (called Leocarte). On Saturdays, from 9AM to 7PM, you can access the Bibliothèque R. Franklin (Sciences-Sports Departments) located campus 2 and on Sundays, from 1PM to 7PM, you can access the Bibliothèque M. Brès, located on campus 5.

The library portal provides unique access to all university library resources, in both printed or digital forms: books, articles, journals. Once you have logged in, you can access the online resources. The digital resources provided by the libraries (online journals, databases, e-books, etc.) are also accessible if you are off campus: in this case, you must log in via your digital account.

Librarians can help you with your documentary research on site or through the Remote Q&A Answer Service, by chat or by email.

By downloading the free application Affluences or by consulting the website, you can check the occupancy rate of the Bibliothèques M. Brès (Health Department), Bibliothèque P. Sineux (LawLiterature Departments) and Bibliothèque R. Franklin (Science-Sports Departments) in real time. You can also book a group study room there.

The orientation insertion service is available at the Bibliothèque R. Franklin in addition to the Espace orientation insertion (EOI) located on campus 1. The EOI Service offers a documentary collection dedicated to vocational guidance and integration: internship proposals, further studies, professions, professional opportunities, studies and employment abroad, public service recruitment competitions, CVs, letters of application, and social networks. It is also possible to make an appointment with a specialized librarian for more in-depth documentary advice.
